When it comes to important topics like holiness, consecration, purity, and prayer, the older generation never jokes around. We might argue that we are more knowledgeable than they are, which could be right or wrong.
Regarding issues like women wearing trousers or makeup, we often see our parents disapproving of those choices and their excesses. While thier disapproval may not seem valid to us, some of us may also be wrong.
Their knowledge of contemporary issues may not match ours, but their commitment to following God is unmatched by our generation. Many of our older parents still observe night watches, while we, the younger folks, often choose to sleep, relying on our deeper revelations. This observation is not meant to discredit the things God is using us to accomplish in our times; rather, we should learn to honor the older generation.
My spiritual father, Apostle Temidayo, often says that the impact of the older generation cannot be forgotten because whenever they have even a small encounter with God, they hold onto it until something great comes from it. In contrast, our generation tends to focus more on talk and show rather than deep spiritual engagement.
We must celebrate them for their "serious labor" that has laid the foundation for the Christianity we enjoy today.
Respect should be given not only to those with visible results but also to the gatekeeper who never misses reading his Bible. God is working through them in ways we may not always see, and their faithfulness contributes significantly to the body of Christ.
In honoring our elders, we recognize the legacy they have built and the spiritual heritage they pass on to us, which is invaluable. Let us strive to respect and learn from the wisdom of those who have walked this path before us.
At Teens For Christ, we are dedicated to sharing God's truth and inspiring young hearts to grow in faith. Your contributions help us spread the gospel and empower the next generation of believers.
