I've been reading the book of Exodus, chapter 4, and I noticed that Moses tried his best to shy away from the assignment God gave him. This happened during his encounter with the burning bush. In verse 1, Moses said, "But behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice; for they will say, 'The Lord hath not appeared unto thee.'" Moses was essentially saying, "God, these people might not believe me."
There are times when God gives us assignments that we might not believe in ourselves. We might think, "God, I'm too lowly to be sent on this errand." In verse 10, Moses gave another excuse, saying he wasn't eloquent enough for the task. Despite seeing miraculous signs, Moses still doubted himself.
Sometimes, when God sends us a message or gives us an assignment, we might need a step of faith. We might think our abilities or resources are insignificant, but God can use them mightily. In chapter 4, verse 2, God asked Moses, "What is that in thine hand?" Moses replied, "A rod." God then told him to cast it on the ground.
That same rod, which turned into a snake, was later used by Moses to part the Red Sea, saving the Israelites from the Egyptians. Your little thing, whatever it may be, can do a mighty thing. All you need to do is learn to depend on God's word and trust in the assignment He's given you.
It might not be convenient, and it might seem unrealistic, but God can use someone like you. He's not mistaken when He calls you through your dreams, thoughts, or through others. Sometimes, God knows we need extra conviction, so He'll use someone's voice or a message to confirm His call.
Don't say no to God using you. Your little rod can make a big impact. Your little word can save souls. Your little kindness can inspire someone. Your little gift can wipe away tears. Cast your rod to the ground, and let God use it. Perhaps, He'll surprise you with the mighty things He can do through you.
Don't underestimate the power of your "little word." God can use it to make a significant impact in the world. Remember Moses' story and how God empowered him despite his doubts and fears. As you step out in faith, trust that God will equip and enable you for His assignments. Your obedience can lead to supernatural outcomes, and your "little word" can do a mighty thing in God's hands.
