How God set me free from addiction to porn, masturbation - Teenage girl

A  teenage girl, Eunice Ekanem, has shared how the Lord liberated her from a masturbation and pornography addiction.

In an interview  on Lucky Udu's Facebook page, she related her story.

Giving the story, she added that her addiction started with romance books and progressed to more sensual and explicit ones. She went on to visualize the story sequences in her mind, saying that "it was more like a live porn."

She had a masturbation addiction by the time she turned fifteen.

After completing her secondary education, at the age of 17, she met a young man on Facebook who exposed her to pornography, which made matters worse.

They began talking about sex. She became addicted to the filthy images and movies he would send her.

After around a year of this, a buddy began to evangelize to her. She expressed regret. However, the message's influence faded. She found herself doing what she detested after around six months.

This time, it was a man she met on X (Twitter), who made it plain that he wanted to have sex with her right away and insisted that she do it every night.

At first, she thought she could handle it and just wanted to “play along” as she felt confident that she could not fall back but, in the end, she fell, even deeper than the first time.

It got so bad that she would go online to listen to erotic novels while on the road. It was all she could think of everywhere, even in church.

Sometimes she felt guilty and she tried her best to stop, she started a routine and promised herself not to read the novels again but somehow, she found herself going back to them again and again.

She did not know how to stop and did not know who to confide in as it was something she found shameful.

She eventually gave up trying and accepted that the problem would never go away.

But Jesus intervened.

Eunice recalled that after deciding to follow Jesus, she first felt the rescuing grace of God.

She was able to recognize triggers in books, movies, and music she viewed and listened to because of that grace.

She claimed that in order to resist temptation, she had to take a temporary vacation from social media. These actions aided in preserving her independence.

She advised that those seeking freedom should find someone to hold them accountable and also pursue deliverance, which for her meant reading the Bible daily.

Although she is now free from pornography and masturbation, Eunice observed that many people have come to view these behaviors as "normal," reasoning that because the body naturally produces certain hormones, there's nothing they can do to resist them.

Some even reference scientific studies claiming that these habits have "benefits."

However, Eunice emphasized that these behaviors are not normal, stating, "They have spiritual implications. They separate a person from God and bring about other consequences, such as weakness, erectile dysfunction in men, and even depression." She added that these habits can lead to marital problems and strain relationships with others. Despite this, Eunice's testimony shows that freedom is possible.
